In the brief fragment of audio of the conversation between Deripaska and Prikhodko, we could hear them discussing relations between Russia and the United States. Specifically, they were talking about the then assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, Victoria Nuland. Shortly before we published our video, Americans read about how the head of Donald Trump’s campaign headquarters, Paul Manafort, had received millions of dollars from Deripaska in return for telling him what was going on in Trump’s campaign. This proved to be one of the pieces of evidence that showed Russian interference in the U.S. elections.
